Capita spesso, anzi spessissimo che i nostri figli non ubbidiscano; capita se parliamo piano, se urliamo, se puniamo. Insomma sembra che non ci sia modo di ottenere un risultato e non è raro che qualcuno consigli una bella sculacciata. Non sono d’accordo anche se non nego che ogni tanto in extremis qualche scappellotto è partito. Le sculacciate servono a correggere? Non servono? Secondo una ricerca della Southern Methodist University, negli Usa, pubblicata sulla rivista Journal of Family Psychology le sculacciate sono inutili: già pochi minuti dopo aver ricevuto una punizione corporale, infatti, i piccoli nella maggior parte dei casi tendono a ripetere gli stessi errori.
Lo studio ha coinvolto 33 famiglie con bambini osservate per una settimana con un sistema di registrazione audio-video. In questo periodo i bimbi di 15 famiglie sono stati sculacciati in 41 occasioni; nel 75 per cento dei casi i piccoli, dopo appena 10 minuti dalla punizione, continuavano a ripetere gli stessi atteggiamenti sbagliati. Secondo gli studiosi pertanto, sculacciare i bimbi non solo non funziona, ma può renderli anche aggressivi, ansiosi e depressi.
Forse in quelle famiglie le sculacciate erano troppo frequenti!
Una pediatra ormai anziana e amica di famiglia mi ha sempre detto: le sculacciate non servono ai bimbi ma i genitori per sfogarsi quando prorpio il vaso trabocca.Ovviamente una ogni tanto, non certo tutti i giorni e le settimane..
